Marty returns to the past again in Back to the Future Part II - this time to save the future. Marty is successfully sent back to the future, but a new timeline has been created. Finally Marty succeeds in getting his father to stand up to local bully Biff Tannen, as well as ensuring his parents dance together at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance and fall in love. Marty spends a week in 1955 as the Doc prepares for the storm, and keeps busy by attempting to undo the damage he has caused from preventing the first meeting between his father and mother. Since plutonium is not available in 1955, the power surge needed to send the Delorean back to 1985 will have to come from the bolt of lightning expected to hit the clock tower. After managing to convince Doc Brown that he is from the future, the two hatch a plan to send Marty back to 1985. Its significance lies in it being the date that Doc came up with the concept for the flux capacitor – the device which enables time travel. The Doc originally chose November 5th, 1955 while showing off the time machine to Marty in 1985. Marty’s arrival in the past comes as a shock, and as he struggles to make sense of what’s just occurred, he locates Doc Brown. And since no one really knows just what to expect from the process itself, Bob Gale’s scripts provide an easily digestible insight into the concept of timelines and what it might mean to alter one’s past, present or future. Regardless of its flaws, the Back to the Future trilogy has arguably created three of the best films ever made about time travel. It isn’t until Back to the Future Part II, which splits its action between the past as well as the future that things really begin to get hectic. What begins as an accidental journey into the past on the part of Marty McFly rapidly evolves into something far more chaotic and fun. Ultimately the Back to the Future movies deserve several viewings, as events that take place are better appreciated when specific details become clearer. The end result is three films – and a ten-minute short from 2015 in which Doc Brown saves the world from nuclear apocalypse – that continue to captivate viewers.

Oof course, the Back to the Future films were never meant to be a blueprint for time travel. Each chapter showcased the pitfalls of escaping to other points in history and the future, and between Marty and Doc Brown's meddling they made a pretty big mess. Fox and Christopher Lloyd on a wild time travelling adventure, creating multiple timelines over the course of three Back to the Future films in the process. Also the western city and the colors are absolutely beautiful, you can't deny that. It’s been thirty-five years since Robert Zemeckis sent Michael J. It was actually funny all these articles in 2015 comparing how BTTF2 imagined what the future would look like when the producers actually said they didn't believe we would have flying cars and they didn't try to predict anything, they just let their imagination run wild and accidently got some things right.Īnyway the time travelling in BTTF2 is the most complicated one out of all the 3 movies and I think it was a good decision to make things more relaxed in part 3. This is why part 2 was not completely set in the future, they had to go there because ending to part 1 and so they made it goofy and over the top and it worked. The ending from part 1 was just that and if you think about it, it makes no sense to travel to the future to fix something if you already know when things start to go wrong, just change it in the present time when they occur. Click to shrink.Part of this is because originally BTTF was never supposed to have a sequel.
